Blinds in Texas Holdem Poker

Posted on December 8th, 2006 in General Texas Holdem Poker Strategy by blogger

The purpose of the Blinds in Texas Holdem poker is to force action. Without the Blinds everyone can simple fold every hand and wait till they have the best hand, AA.
As a beginner, it is best to play the Blinds passively.

  • Fold your poker hand if someone else raises, other than AA, KK, QQ, AK
  • Don’t draw for straight or flush (until you learn your Texas Holdem odds)
  • Don’t bluff
  • if no one raised your marginal Texas Holdem Poker Hands (i.e. Q,8) and you flop top pair with 8,4,2, Don’t escalate the pot (you will not likely win by the river and it’s not worth protecting)
  • if you flop two pair or better, DO bet it aggressively. No need to slow play your stronger Texas Holdem Poker Hands at the low limt tables.
