Step 4: Table Selection, Sitting In, and Posting Big Blind

Posted on December 9th, 2006 in Step by Step Texas Holdem Poker Strategy for Beginners by blogger

Key Points:

  1. Select ONLY full tables with good numbers (Av.Pot > 20x big blind, Plrs/Flop > 40%).
  2. Sit in with 20x Big Blind.
  3. Post Blinds ONLY when tables are full. Otherwise, sit out for that round.

  • Table Selection:
    1. Click on the Mini(<$1) Subcategory.
    2. Scroll down to the $0.05/$0.10 NL 10-player tables.
    3. Select tables with HIGH Av.Pot Numbers and HIGH Plrs/Flop Percentages.
      • HIGHER numbers = WEAKER opponents
      • At this limit, we recommend following a minimum table selection requirement of $4 and 40%
    4. Complete sit-in process as discussed in Step 3.

  • Sit In
    1. As discussed in Step 3, sit in with 20x Big Blind. Since the Big Blind is $0.10, sit in with $2.
      • $0.10 x 20 = $2.00
    2. Only POST ($0.10) during the Big Blind. Otherwise, WAIT. - DO NOT POST ($0.10).
    3. Post Big Blind ONLY when there are at least 9 other active players.

  • Posting Big Blind
    1. Post Big Blind when the Dealer Button is two seats counterclockwise to your position.
